not defunct

I'm still in Israel, maybe I'll never leave? Actually no.

Not sure whether or not I'll keep posting once I get back. Probably I shall do that very thing. Yes, I shall.

Also, I graduated that damn K12 thing since I last posted, feels good to be my own boss, ya dig?

in which i'm really cold

Last weekend I went to Park City, Utah with the "family" for a "family vacation".
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for family vacations, but not on weekends and not when I have to miss school. Other requirements, I bring a friend and am not tempted by beautiful tourist spots.

Park City is beautiful and lovely and blah bluhblah blah, but it's also a HUMONGOUS tourist town! (Sundance film festival, winter olympics, hot snowboarder guys: plenty of attractions)

It's just that I despise that feeling of being in a place I love, but feeling like things would be alot more enjoyable if I wasn't a tourist, which is what I am anywhere out side of the Bay. Probably doesn't help that my family looks as Jew as they come, so we didn't really fit into the mormon-chic culture.
Unfortunately my camera is all "blaaa you drop me all the time and I'm sick of it, you hurrr me? Sick. Of. It," It won't be my friend and take pictures, so I only have a few slightly usable ones.*

Whatever, it was fun. You want pictures, right?

"This is how intense"
Ummm yeah, so I'm guessing that you're thinking "oooh dayum I do NOT want to mess with this crazy mutha. She looks like she can shred on those slopes like a demon panther out of hell!"
Seriously, python leggings? You betcha I mean business. I mean so much business that after 6 years of boarding I fell so hard on my ass on a green run that I had to call it quits the rest of the day. No, no, no, not for my sake, but for the safety of the mountain.
OK, I'm really tired and probably won't have a chance to post in the next week. L'chayim!
*actually only 1 picture, my camera is on the fritz and I'm not willing to share the family portrait (yiiich)

The seas were angry

Ay mateyyyy, here's a summary of my family trip up the coast. Went to a friends house for 4 days (kind of near Sea Ranch)

The whole time we were there it rained like the power of Zeus, so we were trapped indoors most of the time. After 4 days with no other human contact besides the fam, I was ready to shank a foo. Now that we've been able to immerse ourselves in our own social lives, things are back to normal like the good 'ol days.

The view from my window, so nice to wake up to.
There was only one day we could go down to the beach. When we did, we (mostly my mom) found 24 abalone shells that had been washed ashore by the storm. Since we brought them home, maybe I'll do some kind of project with them.
Unfortunately we were only on the beach a short time before the storm came back.
Don't think this captures the incoming cloud very well, but basically, we saw this dark mass of cloud moving towards us and my family went "Oh. HELLL NA. IT'S-A-STORM" and freaked out.

Then they ran away. Look at them run. I, on the other hand, do not run for shit. Maybe because I'm a gangsta? (damn, it feels good to be a gangsta)
Then it started to hail and I slipped and fell on my behind, sorry that I wasn't able to take any pictures of that.
Haven't seen hail in 10 years, so I was pretty excited, even though it hurt my delicate epidermis.
Later that night I made this recipe from Bread and Honey
Pretty much looked like that. How? you ask. Because I am pro.
I'll leave you with a sunset and something that reminds me of Heidi.

it's channukah, I'm leafing

...like a treeeee
Driving a few hours up the coast with the fam to a house in Mendocino/Gualala (walalaw?)
Be gone till Saturday, Hope you all have a Merry Channukah / Happy Christmas / whatever
*
Even though I'm Jewish, my idea of the "holiday season" is somehow a mush of thanksgiving/ christmas/ new years... so here's my holiday photo;
My cornucopia cap from thanksgiving (a month ago). So um...yeah, I am that loser who would rather take pictures on her friend's Mac while everyone else is socializing in the other room. I wonder if they noticed me steal away sheepishly to be by my bad self. Also I choose to make festive hats instead of play silly games.
And yes, my cornucopia cap has a hotdog in it.
*
*
In other news - Things I'v gotten for Channukah so far (these are the things I picked out, so I performed some sneakery and knew which ones to open first)
*
On the first night of Channukah my parents gave to me:
A sick ass motorcycle jacket

Night #2
Not the one I got, my hair breaks hair straightners foshiz G

Tonight = Night 3
OH NO SHE DIDN'T!
sorry guys, but I did.
Minnetonka Moccasin brand ugg-style boots. I DON'T CARE how unstylish or ugly these things are, they're fucking warm and cozy as sheeeit. Also, I figure that since they're by Minnetonka, there has to be a little less guilt involved. C'mon man, it's cold in the D.

Ok, so I guess that's it for now. No internet access/ cell phone service for the next few days. Don't remember the last time I went without internet access for more than 24 hours... this is going to be a good thing

an argument for the children

Hey, you hurr 'bout my shirt shirt?
Wullll anyways I fashioned myself a shirt SKIRT of sorts. I think I need to perfect the tying method and all, but using the imagination of what could be... what is better?

shirt skirt:

yes i know, it's lowrise because of my unmasterful knotting skills (skillz)

Deer hell

Half an hour away from Kyoto there's a town called Nara where deer are a sacred animal. There are literally 100's of domesticated deer that you can pet and feed deer food.

In this true story, that place will be refered to as Deer Hell.

It all started off as an average day for the tourist mother and daughter...

"Don't get any fucking closer, deer"

An abundance of deer pictures were taken, this one on the gateway steps.

Oh the tourist two were openly enjoying this scenic temple with the giant buddah and school children. They would not know of the trials and tribulations to come.

*That's the entrance gate

One might even say they were enjoying the paradise too much when...

ALL OF A SUDDEN A MONSOON came upon them as they were leaving with only 1 tiny umbrella- ella-ella and they were forced to seek shelter under the entrance gate along with 30-40 other tourists.
AND 25 deer.

Extreme measures had to be taken. The deer wanted food, the deer were in mass numbers, and the deer were persistant.

Putting their heads together, the tourist mother and daughter devised a plan to survive deer hell:
huddle in a corner and aim an open umbrella at any oncoming deer. No exceptions.

*re-enactment of Deer Hell

With the aid of a hundred yen, they eventually escaped deer hell after deciding to buy another umbrella.

To this very day, they maintain that no return to deer hell is possible.

On the other hand...

these are things of good luck

choosing my fortune stick

excellent
i chose my fortune 3 times at different places and twice I got this one

it wasn't more of a time, it was more like an experience.

This is the only Tokyo night time picture i could salvage.

hey babe, your hairs alright

ooooh back from Japan and I'm chronically tired, so I'll post pictorials later.
Basically all my preconceived Japanese stereotypes were a sham!
I'm actually more weary than I thought so I'll just not even try to write now, but I'll definate have pages and encyclopedias worth of pictures and fun facts tomorrow!
For the interim, be contented to know that I am very much pleased to be home.
thanks, thank you, thanks.
